Sustainable Mobility in the City

Sustainable Mobility in the City

Sustainable urban mobility is a core theme for 21st century urbanism. Issues of walkability and pedestrian advocacy are at the heart of this theme.

Pedestrian Space, as a project, is interested in physical aspects of pedestrianization – how to improve cities and built environments to be more walkable and accessible. We are also interested in the organizational, planning and decision making processes that are fundamental for initiating change as well as the psychological aspects related related to choice of mobility and view of environment.

The paradigm shift occuring right now related to mobility is key to the development of sustainable cities and requires change not only in the physical realm but also with regards to perspectives on the uses and benefits of public space for soft mobility needs.

Our focus at Pedestrian Space is centered on issues of urban mobility through the lens of advocacy, research and initatives related to pedestrianization.
