Pilot 2027: URBAN HEAT
Welcoming Collaborators: Educators, Municipalities, Scholars & Organizations
The Pedestrian Space ‘Sustainable Urbanism & Planetary Health’ curriculum is piloting this year with collaborators in 5 different cities under the theme of ‘Mobility & Community’.
Next year, we are looking to expand our curricular outreach and engagement with a pilot focused on the topic and issue of URBAN HEAT. We announced this pilot on LinkedIn on July 22, 2026, here and were impressed by the flood of responses, which simply illustrates how critical and widespread the issue is.
We seek diverse forms of collaboration for this pilot, including with municipalities, educators, researchers, fellow organizations, and more.
For the URBAN HEAT pilot, we plan to co-create curriculum with partners, to be able to feature:
• municipal insights and strategies for mitigating and reducing urban heat
• lived experiences and observations of residents adapting to urban heat
• forms of public engagement in shaping awareness on issues of urban heat
• activities and exercises for educators to engage students in co-learning on issues of urban heat
We are seeking collaborators from cities across the world.
We also host academic interns at Pedestrian Space.
