In May 2025, Dhanya Rajagopal and Annika Lundkvist launched the survey on Immigrant Experience in Poland.
As two immigrants themselves, who first met in Poland (in Warsaw) in February 2024), they found quick solidarity, reflecting on their ‘cosmopolitan’ backgrounds – in the spirit of the word as ‘having a broad worldview’ and being open to many cultures and ideas as well as shared experiences of settling in and adapting to Poland.
They were curious to launch an inquiry, as the basis of a developing project, to begin documenting narratives and reflections on the immigrant experience and perspective in Poland.

Originally from India, Dhanya achieved a Master’s in Placemaking and Public Space Management at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, where experiences of urbanism also influenced much of her vision and understanding of vibrant urbanism and community life. She is one of the founders of Placemaking India and is involved in diverse community revitalization and publishing projects
Annika is the founder of Pedestrian Space and an urban researcher interested in multiple dimensions of resilience. Originally from the USA, she achieved a Master’s in Spatial Planning with a focus on Built Environment from Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan in Stockholm and a Master’s in Historic Preservation from Cornell University in Ithaca.
Both Dhanya and Annika share a love of great food, exploring and investigating a city on foot and by public transportation, and developing inquiries on urban life into meaningful projects.
The Immigrant Experience in Poland survey is currently open for responses and was launched in May 2025.
