Setting the seeds…

Here we go!

🌽 My corn growing – urban garden 2025 experimentation has begun 🌽

I am tracking this particular group of seedlings as ‘CORN X’ (seeds are organic sweet corn from Cyprus-based Fontana Seeds) in my documentation.

Planted on February 16, the seedlings first popped up on February 22 when I measured them at .5 cm

Today, February 25 they stand at a little over 5 cm this morning.

It was here in Warsaw where I decided to go full steam with my urban gardening efforts, using the space of our massive balconies to grow diverse vegetables and fruits.

While I am extremely excited about our balcony gardening activities here, I am looking forward to progressing on to ground-level space soon for diverse reasons.

However, I will always be interested in the potential for food growing in various urban settings including balcony gardens.

Home gardens are hotspots for biodiversity yet also acknowledged as under-researched in that sense.

As part of my own foundational research on home gardens, I have launched this survey for home & allotment gardeners based in Europe. If you are a Europe-based home or allotment gardener, please feel free to take this brief survey (should take the length of a coffee break!) & also feel free to share with any home gardeners you know.
