📕 Upcoming read ‘The JOY Experiments: Reimagining Mid-sized Cities to Heal Our Divided Society’ By Scott Higgins & Paul Kalbfleisch
Given our focus on walkability, spatial and social equity, and overall quality of urban life, we were provided a copy to read and share with networks, readers and followers.
The JOY Experiments includes inspiring examples and best practices for creating more walkable, joyful urban environments. I already had a peek inside and am really inspired by the layout and design, beautiful and engaging illustrations and rich table of contents.
Later this year we will also interview Paul Kalbfleisch about the book and about issues of urban planning as a path to unity, the 15-minute city, collaboration in urbanism, potentials as well realities of great quality of life in mid-sized cities and joy in urban spaces.
Paul’s strategic work and creative guidance were instrumental in the creation of The Gaslight District in Cambridge Ontario, and placed 3rd in a global “15 Minute City” design competition.
Given that the 15-minute city is a focus in our research, media and advocacy work at Pedestrian Space, we particularly look forward to discussions on the topic of 15-minute city, spatial equity and quality of life.
The book looks fantastic Scott and Paul! Look forward to digging in 📖 Thank you also to Sarah Miniaci for setting up!
