Some of the official Congress photos from our ‘Pedestrians First!’ panel at the Kongres Nowej Mobilności | New Mobility Congress in Katowice this week.

Last year I moderated a panel at this Congress and enjoyed not only that experience, but also exploring some of the many other panel talks and sessions. The social opportunities at such an event also abound with individuals from all over the world.
I am also once again impressed by the organization of the event by PSNM – We drive new mobility! The night prior, we were welcome to a gorgeous gala at the Narodowej Orkiestrze Symfonicznej Polskiego Radia (NOSPR- Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra).

The ‘Pedestrians First’ panel I moderated included Rita Jacinto (Portugal), Luca Bellinato (Italy), Łukasz Zweiffel (Poland) and Robbert Lohmann (Netherlands), with the scene and audience also wonderfully moderated by Maciej Kautz.

I really value the opportunity to represent issues of walkability in diverse contexts and believe that my mission to do so means being prepared to show up and engage with all sorts of audiences and in different settings.

We had a truly dynamic and insightful panel talk and also a lot of interactivity with the audience- as I like it!

Also, to the moments ‘in between’ ✨. I value the social aspect of a conference. With Kongres Nowej Mobilności | New Mobility Congress this year, I once again met numerous people whom I met for the first time at the Congress last year as well as people known from other contexts, spaces, and places.

Networking is not merely about sharing job updates and achievements but also contexts, bits of life story, ‘behind the scenes’ of professional developments and more.
It’s fun to ‘catch up’ in general and also make new acquaintances. With those who have known me through my time in Poland, I also enjoy sharing about our movement – since the last Congress, I’ve moved yet again, this time Radom ➡️ Szczecin. At such events, it’s not unusual for me to meet someone whom I’ve been connected with on LinkedIn or who has been following my content. It’s nice to then have the opportunity to meet in person.

In the special case of Michal Lorbiecki, PhD, we met in person for the first time at this Congress last year after years of online dialogue. He was the first person I reached out to in Poland for relocation insight back in 2021 when we were looking into moving here from Sweden. It was wonderful to reconnect again this year at the Congress’s beautiful gala.

Meeting Karolina Zielony for the first time was a delight. We had fun snapping a series of photos by the stage during our very 1st chat. Dialogue with Dr. Łukasz Zweiffel after our panel was insightful and connective, also leading to online acquaintance.

There were many more such moments- rich, fun, and even heartwarming- that I forgot to photograph or just didn’t bother, as I was so immersed in the moment. Thank you, PSNM, for a great time!
P.S. Shoutout to the trams of Katowice! Love seeing you roll by with your nicknames on the side!
