I recently came across the coverage from the New Mobility Congress 2025: https://auto.dziennik.pl/artykuly/9896863,kluczem-do-wygodnej-i-dostepnej-mobilnosci-jest-wsluchiwanie-sie-w-pot.html
In it, I’m referenced from my time on one of the panels, as are other panelists.
I have genuinely appreciated and enjoyed diverse opportunities to join panels and give talks in recent years, mainly in Poland but some other places as well. The younger me would be surprised and maybe also excited and proud, seeing this change in her future self.
I used to panic at the thought of public speaking. In the past several years, however, I have found that I now not only appreciate being able to communicate about issues of walkability and urban resilience to audiences, but especially thrill in the prospect of doing so with audiences who perhaps aren’t already ‘on the same page.’

Talking to and with a roomful of people who already ‘get’ what I’m talking about can be fun but doesn’t move the needle much on shaping public awareness. I value the potential to get in front of audiences who perhaps have never really even thought much about ‘walkability’ and can actually benefit and learn something from a straightforward and engaging talk about urban mobility, centering the ability to move on foot and the importance of safe, affordable, accessible public transportation and how this affects different people’s quality of life.
-Annika, Founder at Pedestrian Space

From the article:
“Annika Lundkvist, founder of Pedestrian Space, emphasized that walkability—or safe pedestrian accessibility—is the foundation of a healthy and inclusive city. She pointed out that the needs of various groups, ranging from people with disabilities and parents with children to the elderly, must be systematically taken into account in public space planning.”
Original:
“Annika Lundkvist, założycielka Pedestrian Space, podkreśliła, że tzw. walkability, czyli bezpieczna piesza dostępność, jest fundamentem zdrowego i inkluzywnego miasta. Zwróciła uwagę, że potrzeby różnych grup, od osób z niepełnosprawnościami, przez rodziców z dziećmi, po osoby starsze, muszą być systematycznie uwzględniane w planowaniu przestrzeni publicznej.”
