And….they’re off on their project!
This is my 2nd year serving as an organizational host via Pedestrian Space for Industrial Placements for the University of Bristol School of Arts MA in Film students.
I offered students the ability to do their Industrial Placements with Pedestrian Space as host and to focus their projects on either 1) exploring issues of walkability via film or 2) exploring issues of community agriculture via film.
Both Maximus and Xi accepted their industrial placements with Pedestrian Space and also decided to work together on a team approach. They also decided that they wanted to focus on both issues of walkability and community and urban agriculture.

At our regular Monday check-in meeting today, I learned from them that their site of interest had enthusiastically agreed to partner with them to allow them to focus their documentary work and media produced during their industrial placement.
Maximus and Xi will be focusing on Bristol-based Redcatch Community Garden for their work!
Very excited for these two students who are also working on their dissertations in the final year of their MA in Film and TV program!
When I asked them what they are excited about in preparing to create film media on a community garden, Max shared ‘It is something I have not experienced before. Where I am from in Wales, we don’t have anything like this. When my partner told me about it, I thought I am excited to understand how it impacts the local community. I have some idea, but it will be nice to talk with the people that go there and who volunteer there.‘ Xi shared that ‘It is my first time to do a project recording a real-life situation‘ and is really looking forward to interviews with people both working and volunteering at the garden as well as people living around it.
At Pedestrian Space, I am committed to working with people of diverse disciplines when exploring issues of walkability and community agriculture and finding ways to advocate for and educate on these issues via different mediums and insights.
Glad to be working with these two Film students! 👏 🎥
