Founder’s Notes: January 2023

@pedestrianspace was founded in May 2020 as a digital space to explore issues of walkability and sustainable urbanism

In January 2021 I established pedestrianspace.org as a platform to expand on media and content creation around issues of urbanism and sustainable mobility, with a focus on pedestrian space and movement.

In January 2022 I established the Global Walkability Correspondents Network as an international and multidisciplinary collective to provide solidarity for walkability advocates worldwide as well as a space for collective learning and exchange.

Becoming a research fellow of the Schumacher Institute in February 2022 was an exciting honor as I greatly respect the Institute’s work and look forward to partnering with them on future projects.

In early 2022 Pedestrian Space was confirmed as part of the UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme) ‘People-Centered Smart Cities Compendium’ which was launched at World Urban Forum 11 in Katowice on the 28th of June.

In September 2022 I began my Ph.D. studies at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Organization (Polish Academy of Sciences). My research focuses on mobility choice, decisions and behavior. In December 2022, I began hosting a series of Urban Mobility Workshops and will continue to host workshops through 2023.
