‘From Monofunctional Business District to Rapidly Residential: Walkable Urbanism Via A 15-Minute City Lens in Służewiec’ is in the current (published September 2026) issue of the space & FORM journal, a scientific journal of the Polish Academy of Sciences and West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin, Poland.
This paper was a case study within my broader urban lab approach examining best practices and barriers of walkability via the 15-minute city lens in Warsaw. I have 3 other dissertation papers published that are related to this research. You can find the research on my ResearchGate profile.
Pedestrian Space played an important role when I was doing my community-engaged research in Poland’s capital city.
Many people joined workshops I offered at diverse locations around the city after having seen them promoted here (or a friend, family member, or colleague seeing here and passing the info on).
It was really the beginning of my own experimentation with using an NGO as a vehicle to also support research activities, which I will continue to do. Approaching various entities in the city for partnership (for space, engagement, collaborative events etc.) as an NGO as well as a researcher provided an approach that was also important to me.
Pedestrian Space operates at the intersection of media, communications, research, and advocacy so this ‘dual hat’ approach has been a practical mode to inhabit and learn to work from.
