PANDEMIC INSIGHTS: A pilot for an urban resilience research project
There are lockdown charts and lists online, but I learn often by writing things down, so this morning began my 1st ‘lockdown chart’- listing days when lockdowns and state-of-emergency notices were officially announced in countries.
This chart focuses on European countries, as I want to get my feet wet with one world region in my first look at lockdown onset dates.
However, I will eventually create a new list as my pilot project has a global focus, not to mention I’m interested in lockdown dates for countries globally.
I’ve done 12 in-depth interviews as part of a pilot for this project as I test my survey questions and methodology.

I envision a larger-scale approach as well as support for this project as, through this pilot phase, it’s clear that this analytical approach to residential experience of diverse aspects of mobility, built environment, and community during the pandemic holds many insights for issues of social, spatial / urban, and environmental resilience.
Such a project could be useful for neighborhood or town/city scale as well as a nation-wide approach. It can also be very valuable for a global approach that is interested in really diverse contexts and resilience needs in different environments around the world.
