As part of the Pedestrian Space ‘Global URBAN HEAT Media Lab’ and network in development, we are recording our conversations with incoming collaborators around the world, as well as students interested in pursuing academic internships related to the project.
As part of that, we met with Emma Maria, an MSc student in socio-ecological economics and policy at WU Wien. During her studies in socio-ecological economics, she became increasingly interested in the concepts of social urbanism, heat gentrification, intersectional urbanism, and social municipality.
She is currently engaged in a university research project on social municipality in Vienna for the Green Party and recently wrote a research paper on green gentrification in Johannesburg.
Emma Maria joins the Pedestrian Space ‘Global URBAN HEAT Media Lab’ with a deep interest in developing intersectional solutions to urban heat, as well as connecting to work mapping social vulnerability to heat exposure.
