Introducing Pontianak Correspondent Rizqi Riyandi!
In January 2022 we launched the Global Walkability Correspondents Network, as a way to build solidarity among walkability advocates around the world and continue to create media on sustainable mobility and urbanism.

There are so many issues in my city such as lack of public transportation, unavailable and unsafe sidewalks and cycle lanes, and low pedestrian and cyclist movement.

I am a student and urban enthusiast and soon to be Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning. I am passionate about learning about urbanism, walkability, and sustainability.

WHERE
I’m based in Pontianak, Indonesia. There are so many issues in my city such as lack of public transportation, unavailable and unsafe sidewalks and cycle lanes, and low pedestrian and cyclist movement.

I want to share about the issues of pedestrian mobility from my local communities in Indonesia, especially in my town, Pontianak, West Borneo Province.

WHY WALKABILITY
Walkability plays an important role for citizens in terms of health and the environment they live in. Walkability contributes to reducing the city’s carbon emissions. I believe that to live in walkable city is people’s right to the city.


Rizqi is a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning candidate who has always hoped for a better world for all inhabitants, because there is no planet B. She is eager to learn about urbanism, walkability, and sustainability.
