Interviewed by University of Groningen ‘Human Geography & Planning’ Students

I had a really nice time last month being interviewed about the mission, activities, and story of Pedestrian Space as an NGO yesterday by 3 university students from the Human Geography & Planning BSc program at the University of Groningen  (Faculty of Spatial Sciences) as part of their fieldwork abroad.

They led a great interview, and it was also great to hear about their fieldwork abroad projects and about Groningen. Thanks guys for a great experience! ☕️☕️☕️☕️

P.S. Thanks to a little location-finding mix-up, they ended up at a different cafe than the one I had suggested. However, I also had my 8-year-old daughter with me, and it turned out to be the perfect location as it had a play area inside and a wonderful, very charming atmosphere (Kawiarnia Triki Tashka).

About the experience, one of the students, Koen den Hartog writes:

Hi, my name is Koen, and I am a Human Geography and Planning student at the University of Groningen. For a course, we were able to go to Poland, on a 10-day excursion. The first 6 days were in Warsaw and the last 4 in Łódź.

In Poland, we had to do 3 assignments, one of them being an interview with an NGO. The NGO assigned to me and my groupmates was Pedestrian Space. We first did not know a lot about what Pedestrian Space was doing, but I think I speak for all 3 of us that we were very inspired by what Annika is doing in the little free time that she has.

The assignment was that we had to pitch the findings about our NGO. There were 13 groups, all with different NGO’s, and we had a competition who had the best pitch, voted by the whole group. The group with the most votes would get 100 euros to donate to their NGO.

During our interview, Annika was very easy-going and spoke very passionately about Pedestrian Space. This really sparked over to us, so when we had to pitch the story about Pedestrian Space, we could really carry that passion forward.

We came 2nd (out of 13) in the competition. Overall it was a really fun experience, and getting to know the story of Pedestrian Space and Annika was very inspiring.

Kind regards,

Koen den Hartog
