Pandemic Stories

Since I started a pilot questionnaire and interview series last month on ‘Pandemic Insights’, I’ve heard stories from people who spent time during the 2020 lockdowns in Nepal, the USA, Turkey, and Denmark.

I look forward to continuing these interviews and hearing insights from people in many more countries.

This series is intended to test out the interview method and questions for further refining while documenting different ways in which the lockdowns led to changed awareness and insight on local issues related to mobility, built environment, community, and space.

It’s been approximately 5 years since the lockdowns began, which is not long, but in talking with people about these topics, it feels a bit like an increasingly distant memory for many (sometimes perhaps purposefully so).

I’m valuing weaving in an approach that centres psychology, urban and spatial inquiry, behavior, and geography. The current survey is not location-specific, but I look forward to eventually applying this approach to a national and/or even regional or city-specific level.

If you are a municipality, research institute, university department, organization, or other entity that is curious about collaboration on that please email info@pedestrianspace.org. If you are interested in the interview process & sharing your insight, please contact us as well.
