We are so happy to announce Raluca Hurmuz as Network Co-facilitator and Social Media Coordinator at Global Walkability Correspondents Network!
GWCN is an international network established in January 2022 as a space to connect and support voices of walkability around the world. We are a volunteer network with now over 250 members in cities across the Americas, Africa, Middle East, Oceania, Asia and Europe and growing every week. We are delighted to have the talent of Raluca at the helm, facilitating and dynamically creating and coordinating social media content. Below she answers a couple of questions….
What is your favorite street and why?
🌳🌳🌳 Raluca: In Timisoara my favorite street is “3 August 1919” Boulevard. The Boulevard connects two of Timisoara’s most important historic neighbourhoods, “Cetate” and “Fabric”. Flanked by majestic historic buildings and shaded by large tree canopies, the boulevard offers an enjoyable walking experience. My favourite part is the middle footway between the tram lines and the road, protected by green verges and trees on both sides. Cars have a subordinate place here, offering pedestrians the best view of the old building’s splendid facade details.
💭The first thing that comes to mind when you think about walkability is…
🏙️ Raluca: Cities where you are able to go for a walk not only to run errands but also to watch people getting around, be among people or get away from the crowds in quiet, lush green spaces.
Raluca notes “I am so proud to be part of this global network, learning and widening my perspective on everything while also using my voice to speak about the things I care about the most.”
We are so happy to have you in the network Raluca!
