Public Space

Pedestrian Space is a project using media, research and advocacy in exploration of the challenges, benefits and effects of pedestrian initatives, thus with an inherent focus on public space.

In 2020, pandemic related restricitons led to a reimagining and a reevaluating of public space in urban areas across the globe. As a project conceived in 2020, Pedestrian Space has as part of its motivations an additional interest in the Covid-19 pandemic related surge of interest in public (and specifically sidewalk and street) space.

We are interested in looking at well established and best practices of public space use as well as what is playing out in various urban spaces today in response to contemporary needs.
