Learn about Malmö’s Summer Streets program with Elin Engqvist who works in traffic planning at Malmö municipality

Elin lives outside Malmö, but originally hails from Karlskrona. She has worked at the city of Malmö for a little over 10 years now and previously worked at the Swedish Transport Administration. She works as a traffic planner, with both new developments and existing urban environments. She is particularly passionate about pedestrians and cyclists and also sits on the board of The Swedish Pedestrian Association (FOT).

With regards to the Summer Streets program, Elin notes: “We have been working on the Summer Streets since 2017 and I have been involved since the beginning. We started with one street but the project has now grown to five streets and a square. It’s a popular project even if it raises a lot of emotions when you reduce the accessibility of car traffic.“
